Prism Medical to create 35 new jobs in 2014

After completing year-end planning meetings last week, Prism Medical Products announced that it plans to create at least 35 new jobs in 2014. This comes with an aggressive expansion plan aimed at making Prism a national industry leader.

“It is hard to explain what is happening here,” said James St. Cyr, executive director of Operations for Prism. “The demand for our services continues to rise from coast to coast and we are simply answering the call.”

Founded in Elkin in 2008, Prism Medical Products is a third-party distributor of disposable medical supplies that focuses on wound care, ostomy and urological products. They receive referrals from a variety of health care providers and supply their patients with needed supplies within 24 hours.

Prism then works with the patient’s health insurance provider to obtain payment for the supplies, usually resulting in little-to-no out of pocket cost for the patient.

Prism plans to open distribution centers in Jacksonville, Fla., and Memphis, Tenn., in the first quarter. Additionally, it will open its first satellite Client Care Center in Hendersonville, Nev., which will be the focal point of the 2014 expansion plan.

“Being able to serve patients in the western time zones is paramount to our national plans,” said St. Cyr. “Our goal is to be open and accessible to our clients no matter where they live in the U.S.”

In 2013, Prism Medical created 26 new positions, 18 of which were in the Elkin corporate headquarters. The company also has granted more than 20 internal promotions and title changes to existing employees advancing within the company.

“I am most proud of how our staff continues to develop,” said Chris Cartwright, president of Prism Medical. “The dedication of our employees and their determination to get better every day is what makes our company so special.”

After two years in the headquarters on Church Street in downtown Elkin, Prism will begin the final phase of building renovation this spring to accommodate the 15 to 20 new employees expected to join the team in 2014.

“We are always looking to talk to good people,” said Elisha Hall, human resources for Prism Medical. “It seems like we have been recruiting non-stop all year and 2014 should be our biggest year yet.”

In January, Prism will begin recruiting for its out-of-state positions and will look to start filling local positions in May. Desired experience for these positions includes telephone customer service, medical administration, data entry and medical billing.

“We do have certain skills that we are looking for,” said Hall, “but we want to talk to anyone with a strong work ethic and goals aligned with the direction of our company.”
