Light Up Night had a window decoration contest sponsored by the Downtown Merchants Association. The west side of Main Street dominated with all locations taking top placements.

First place — Dave’s Antiques located at 209 W. Main St.

Second place — Plum’s located at 11 W. Main St.

Third place — Royall’s located at 128 W. Main St.

The judges were Betsy Robertson of Pittsburgh Glass Works; Steva Bledsoe, retired teacher in the N.C. school system (husband Dr. Randy Bledsoe); Pattie Catron, Bristol, Tenn. (visiting the area for the week); and Myra Cook of the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce.

“I’m so delighted at winning. I didn’t expect it,” said Dave George, owner of the antique store. “I’ve been placing on the store window collecting for years. They have a great sentimental values. The window is meant to remind those on Main Street that it’s all about Christ.”

According to the store owner, the acknowledgement is another reason on showing how Christ lives in us.
