A weekend collision sent one woman to the hospital with injuries.

According to police reports, on Sunday, a 1999 Chevy pickup truck driven by Arnold Wagoner was traveling westbound on the bypass at the U.S. 21 North on-ramp when it slammed into a 2010 Toyota passenger car driven by Tony Poindexter at the intersection. Reportedly, Poindexter was sitting at the red light.

The afternoon wreck caused damage to the left rear of the Toyota, according to officials with the Elkin Police Department.

Police records indicate that Wagoner said he was blinded by the sunlight and did not see the vehicle driven by Tony Poindexter.

First responders were dispatched to the scene and took a passenger of the Toyota, Sheila Poindexter, to Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries.
