Elkin City Schools recognizes outstanding students, teacher

Elkin High art teacher Adam Beshears honors Ava McRitchie Monday night at the October Elkin City Schools Board of Education meeting. McRitchie is a senior at Elkin High. Her artwork is now on display in the school system’s administrative office.

Ava McRitchie is honored for a second time Monday night for her attendance of the Governor’s School during the 2013 summer. Mary Francis Hall also was recognized for attending but was unable to appear Monday night. In addition, EHS Principal Joel Hoyle recognized Erin Cave, Kristen Kartes, Rebecca Ray and Ariana Fiets for attending Camp Med this summer. The four also were unable to appear.

Elkin Middle School Principal Pam Colbert recognizes Vickie Rountree as the middle school’s exceptional teacher.

Elkin Elementary School Principal Anthony Davis and sixth-grade teacher Holly Simmons recognize Chloe Osborne as regional winner and state finalist for a state-wide math design contest she competed in.
