Mars Hill University students select homecoming king and queen

MARS HILL — Shelby Johnson of Cashiers and Brett Pardue of Elkin were selected as the 2013 Mars Hill University homecoming queen and king by the student body. Johnson and Pardue were crowned during half-time festivities of the homecoming football game at Mars Hill University, held Oct. 5.

Pardue is a senior music major. He spends most of his time on campus in rehearsals or on the stage, but he also serves as an resident assistant in his dorm.

Shelby Johnson is an English and Spanish double major. She is a leader of Christian Student Movement at Mars Hill University, and a part of Alpha Chi and Sigma Tau Delta. She is a Bonner Scholar and Student Ambassador. She loves to do mission work and is looking to doing more after graduation, along with looking into graduate school for English.
