Elkin High School’s 2013 homecoming is set for this afternoon and evening.
Today will start off with a pep rally at EHS at 2:30 p.m. Students will have a short turn around to the 4:30 p.m. parade through downtown Elkin.
The parade is slated to include JROTC, youth football players and cheerleaders, and participants from the community like the fire and police departments.
The parade’s course takes it down the hill from Elkin High School and around downtown. It will swing around the Elkin library and head toward the Tribune office before swinging around to Crater Park.
It will proceed by Harry’s Place on its way back to the school.
The game starts at 7:30 against North Wilkes High School.
Voting for homecoming queen has been ongoing this week. Initial voting began Tuesday and narrowed the field down to three contestants for a Thursday morning vote.
A queen and maid of honor were selected from those three.
The homecoming queen and maid of honor will be announced during the halftime show.
The homecoming king will be announced at the homecoming dance on Saturday. The dance runs from 8 p.m. to midnight.
