How can it be that churches are shutting their doors to our youth?

For over 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America(BSA) has been a light in our communities, providing foundation and growth opportunities for our youth, and adults, to become responsible men and women.

Because BSA will be changing their membership policies, to allow homosexual youth, in January of 2014, some local churches are shutting their doors to the program, citing it is not a Godly thing to accept in their churches. The sad thing is, the official BSA policy will continue to state that we are not to condone discussions of any sexuality in any of the BSA programs.

I am trying real hard not to be judgmental…but I think God would have an issue with a church that is selective about its membership. Jesus said we are to be His hands and feet, and take light into the darkness. We are not keep the light in the little bubbles of our local church walls. Now, I do not condone homosexuality.

I do not think it is part of God’s plan and creation. I will never vote for any amendment to allow same sex marriages. However, I will not judge those that live that lifestyle, and pretend that my sins are any less than theirs.

But just think about the messages that these churches are sending. It blows my mind to think about what Jesus gave his life for, as we keep building walls instead of bridges.
