ELKIN - Fresh off season-opening victories, the Buckin’ Elks and Rams return to the field tonight against unbeaten squads in Week Two.
Elkin welcomes North Surry to Grissom Stadium, while Starmount hits the road for the second-straight week, traveling to Pilot Mountain to take on East Surry.
The Elks withstood a furious fourth-quarter comeback by local rival Forbush in the season opener last week to notch their first victory of the season, 24-21. The Rams jumped ahead of Mount Airy on the road 16-0 last week before holding off the Granite Bears to win 23-13, securing their first win.
Both clubs look to continue their hot starts to the season in Week Two against Surry County squads. North Surry topped Ashe County 20-13 last week, while East Surry blanked Surry Central 20-0 in its opener.
Looking to rebound from last week’s heart-breaking 51-50 loss to South Stokes, East Wilkes hosts Surry Central at Ebb Tharpe Field tonight in Week Two.
The Cardinals let a late lead slip away as the Sauras stunned the crowd in Ronda with a last-second touchdown and two-point conversion to win.
In East Bend, Forbush hosts North Iredell looking to bounce back from last week’s loss to Elkin.
All games kick off at 7:30 p.m. around the Yadkin Valley.
