The Yadkin Valley Wine Festival is in need of volunteers.
The 12th Annual Yadkin Valley Wine Festival is on May 18. The festival will take place at the Elkin Municipal Park from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Positions are available for parking, setting up vendors, ice runs, trash maintenance, ticket booth support (carding and band), merchandise sales, wine pick-up, and event ambassadors.
According to the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce, its ambassadors ride a shuttle service assisting tourists with questions about the region.
“An ambassador will serve as a liaison to both existing and new chamber members and spread enthusiasm and goodwill about the chamber’s mission, membership benefits, services, programs and activities,” said chamber Interim President Misty Matthews.
“Wine pick-up volunteers must be able to operate a Gator and be able to lift 40 pounds. These volunteers transport purchased items to a central tent that returns items to consumers when they leave the festival,” she said.
Parking support is needed to help with traffic and proper placement of vehicles.
All other volunteer positions are operational positions.
According to Matthews, each volunteer age 21 and above will receive a tasting band, a Yadkin Valley Wine Festival T-Shirt and a $5 food voucher. Each volunteer under the age of 21 will receive a Yadkin Valley Wine Festival T-Shirt and a $5 food voucher.
Volunteers interested in serving the event are asked to contact the YVCC at 336-526-1111 with your availability and your shirt size.
Last year the chamber had 100 volunteers. Organizers expect more than 4,000 tickets to be sold this year.
