Laurel District Scouts help feed the hungry

Staff Report

January 24, 2013

On Saturday, Feb. 9, local Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venture Crews in the tri-county area will be collecting food to help the hungry in our community. This food collection is part of Scouting for Food, an effort by Scouts around our nation to fight hunger. In keeping with the values of Scouting, the Scouts devote themselves to community service.

The Scouts will distribute bags throughout the community on Saturday, February 2nd and return on Saturday, February 9th to collect the donated food. Items needed include most nonperishable food such as canned meats or vegetables, peanut butter, cereal, baby food and pasta.

The food items collected will be donated to local charitable organizations including the Tri-County Christian Crisis Ministry and the Yadkin Christian Ministry. Please help the Scouts feed the hungry in our community by donating food on February 9th.
