Casey VanHoy has extended a personal invitation to Elkin, saying all families are welcomed to his property VanHoy Farms for an annual tradition.
That’s when VanHoy is holding the Union Grove “Old Time Fiddlers’ Convention,” which will be held on Easter Weekend, March 29-30th 2013.
Bluegrass and Old Time music will be showcased on two stages in two days at VanHoy Farms. Over $10,000 dollars will be given away in prize money to the best bands and individuals in Bluegrass and Old Time music categories, according to VanHoy.
The main stage will be held under roof in the H.P. VanHoy Arena, with ample seating to accommodate the near 5,000 visitors who will likely attend. A second stage will be outside by the ‘Old Tobacco Barn’.
VanHoy Farms is a full service campground too and can accommodate everyone, from full hookups to primitive tent sites.
Tickets for the convention are $10 for Friday and $15 for Saturday. Two-day advanced ticket are $20.00. Kids 12 and under free.
Additional info on reservations/pricing for full hookup camping, tent and primitive camping are available by phone. Food vendors will be on site during the event. A general store will be open during the convention and will be selling camping supplies, food/water and ice.
“The Old Time Fiddlers Convention is a family event stretching back to 1924,” said VanHoy. The venue started with six bands and two hundred attendees.
“We are honored to continue this amazing Bluegrass and Old Time tradition started by HP VanHoy in 1924,” said Casey VanHoy “with wonderful pickers and wonderful campers. We hope you and your family will join us this Easter for the Union Grove Old Time Fiddlers’ Convention.”
