The downtown retail store of the Yadkin Valley Craft Guild will be closing on Oct. 20.
“Because of the economy, we can’t keep going with it. However, the Craft Guild will still exist,” said Barbara Elmore of the Craft Guild. “We are going to continue with ClayWorks and focus more on the pottery end of the Guild.”
The Craft Guild closed in December to move in to the old Sew Welcome location at 126 West Main St. The Guild reopened the retail store in February in the new location.
The 35 artists in the guild were notified on Wednesday that the store would be closing.
“If the community still wants to purchase items from the artists, will be happy to get them in contact with the artists to buy from them personally,” Elmore said. “We have been fully stocked with exquisite pieces. We are lucky to have all these artists here.”
The store will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Saturday until the store closes on Saturday, Oct. 20.
