Something sweet is coming to downtown Elkin.
Claire St. Cyr is bringing her cakery, Confections by Claire, to Main Street.
Before having her own store front, St. Cyr was baking in the Twenty One and Main kitchen and was storing most of her baking supplies at her house.
“It’s really nice to have everything in one space,” she said. “I’ll mainly be keeping cupcakes on hand to sell and will be working with people for special orders.”
Her business is located above Dave’s Antiques at 209 West Main Street, Suite 202.
St. Cyr specializes in cakes, pies and cupcakes for events such as birthdays, weddings and showers. For now, she will be taking orders and selling items in the store but is hoping to create a tasting room for brides.
“I want to expand my client base that I’ve already worked up through the past few years,” she said. “I make a lot of wedding cakes but smaller stuff, like birthday cakes, are just as important.”
St. Cyr moved to Elkin two years ago with her husband James of Prism Medical Products from Florida. She originally started out as a wedding planner before finding her love for baking.
During the Pumpkin Festival, St. Cyr will be selling pumpkin flavored goodies such as pumpkin spice cupcakes.
Confections by Claire will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Wednesday through Saturday, Sept. 21.
